British sign language for mainstream primary schools

British sign language for mainstream primary schools

Description

Sign Language is a visual means of communicating using gestures, facial expression, and body language. Sign Language is used mainly by people who are deaf or have hearing impairments although it is increasingly being used to support other learners.

This is a 3 hour session which enables participants to learn a mixture of 'school-based' signs as well as additional signs that can be used to communicate with adults such as welcome signs, everyday signs and finger spelling. These can be used with a range of learners including those with English as an additional language.

  • Duration: 3 hours (including breaks).
  • Study Materials: You will receive supporting documentation and handouts during the session.
  • You will also be given a certificate of attendance.
  • The facilitator for this class is Ian Carpenter.

The session runs from 1pm until 4pm at Kedleston Road site.

Please select the day you wish to attend.
